What You'll Learn
You'll learn the specialized skills required to safely operate a school bus. The course begins with danger zone awareness — understanding the critical areas around the bus where children are most at risk and how to monitor them. You'll study proper loading and unloading procedures in detail: when to activate warning lights and crossing arms, how to signal students, and the correct sequence for safe stops. Railroad crossing procedures for school buses are covered extensively — the mandatory stop, look, listen, and proceed protocol that applies to all school buses regardless of state. The course teaches student management: maintaining order, handling special needs students, and communicating effectively with children. You'll learn about school bus safety equipment — crossing arms, stop arms, convex and cross-view mirrors — and how to use each one correctly. Emergency evacuation drills, post-trip interior inspections, and state-specific regulations round out the training.

Who This Course Is For
CDL holders who will operate school buses
Not Sure If This Is the Right Course?
